We had an uneventful flight south to Guangzhou yesterday. Ivy sat in Ash's lap the entire time and did not cry once. We, and the other passengers on the plane, were very grateful for that.
Our hotel is nice and comfortable. There's a Subway next door--although the sandwiches aren't exactly like what we're used to--and there's a Starbucks around the corner. What a welcome change!
Two other families with our agency are staying at this hotel, and we met for dinner last night. As we were getting ready to leave the restaurant, six black men with noticeable accents sat down at a table near us. Ash went over and talked to them and found out they were from Nigeria and in China on a business trip. I brought Gift over to where they were sitting, and we told them the story about how we adopted her. One of the men told us his daughter's name is Gift; it really thrilled our Gift to hear that.
We'll spend most of today (Sunday) doing paperwork and touring. We're having technical difficulties but will post more pictures ASAP.
Ahh, how we love our American way of life. Subway, Starbucks - now you're talking. Glad you have found some of the comforts of home.
ReplyDeleteYour story has been wonderful to follow. I know it has helped me to be ready to go get Carmon. Thanks so much, we'll keep praying for you all. Now that I know about Subway, I know I'll survive...
